More than 50 internship opportunities have already been committed under a newly launched joint traineeship programme by the Real Estate Developers’ Association of Singapore (REDAS) and the National University of Singapore (NUS), a workforce development initiative announced by REDAS President Tan Swee Yiow at the REDAS Spring Festival Lunch 2026.
The programme was launched on Feb 27, 2026.
The initiative has also drawn interest from around 40 organisations spanning public agencies, developers, financial institutions, trade associations, and consultants.
The platform is structured to provide traineeships, internships, and mentorships for students, while accelerating early exposure to the operational realities of the real estate sector and strengthening Singapore’s talent pipeline.
Structured for traineeships, internships and mentorships, the platform accelerates early exposure to real estate operations and strengthens Singapore’s talent pipeline.
The committed roles span asset management, commercial leasing, fintech-linked applications, and project development, reflecting a deliberate attempt to map student placements to both core development functions and adjacent capabilities increasingly required by institutional operators.
Participants are expected to gain practical understanding of industry workflows across public and private sector contexts, where regulatory interfaces, capital discipline, and execution risk shape asset outcomes, and where early entry can improve role readiness and career pathway visibility.
The partnership leverages REDAS’ industry convening position and NUS’ formal training infrastructure.
REDAS, founded in 1958 and renamed in 1977, represents about 300 members and maintains a mission focused on advancing industry leadership and standards. In addition to engaging regulators and stakeholders on best practices, REDAS organises seminars, courses, and events to build member capabilities, and it positions developers as contributors to Singapore’s economic growth since 1959, with an emphasis on excellence and sustainable developments. As Singapore continues to expand its built environment, the West region is undergoing significant transformation with the Jurong Lake District set to become the largest mixed-use business hub outside the central core by 2035.
NUS contributes through its MSc Real Estate programme, established more than 30 years ago, which attracts global candidates and accommodates entrants from non-real estate backgrounds, equipping graduates with competencies relevant to value creation in real estate assets.
Graduates are hired across industries and job functions, and cohort diversity supports cross-market learning and industry connections, aligning formal education with evolving demand.
At an industry level, the joint initiative is positioned as a response to talent shortages, with a workforce capacity objective linked to sustainable market growth, competency development, innovation, and leadership cultivation.
